Even in the wilderness..God is good

Nehemiah 9:21
Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
Deuteronomy 2:7
For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.

I was reading in Nehemiah last night and verse 21 stood out to me. I reread it a few times and the phrase "they lacked nothing" jumped out. The children of Israel missed God's best but he still blessed them! They were outside His divine will and had went against His perfect plan yet He still took care of them. Even while he was chastening them he was still good to them!

That word Sustain means, to bear, uphold, or support. For 40 years he made them walk in the wilderness. Their unbelief hindered so much. They never grew, they never changed, they never advanced spiritually, and they never got to new levels in life. Everything stayed just as it was the day they told God no.

I don't want my unbelief to cause me to stop growing, or becoming more like Jesus! But I'm learning God is good no matter how I treat Him. Let's get that through our heads. My actions don't change God's goodness..He's good to me no matter what! (I sure don't deserve it!😭) Even though God stayed faithful and was good to the children of Israel they missed out on some great things! They missed out on the victories, the miracles, the BEST God wanted so badly to give them. We have a choice to do life our way or God's way. The children of Israel missed out on the Best and died walking in the wilderness. There wasn't a day in those 40 years where God didn't meet all their needs.

Think about how much they would've grown and how much more God would have blessed them if they'd just obeyed and believed His promises. I am amazed that He wants to continue to be good even when we aren't good to him.

What stood out to me is that God was with them even in the wilderness..He could have left them but He stayed faithful. He remained faithful even though they wanted to do their own thing. They didn't want what God had for them but God kept on taking care of them. They were His children and He loved them no matter what they did or didn't do. It's the same for us today! He wants to give us the very best but if we fail and don't believe He Will still love us just the same. WHEN you and I fail we must remember He is still good! They lacked nothing but they missed God's best. Don't let unbelief hinder your walk with the Lord. Gods way is always higher than ours..it will seem impossible, and scary but God will be walking right beside you no matter what road you choose to take. Trust He knows best and will only give you His BEST❤️
